If you are asked to uninstall Flash to solve your Animoto issues, then you should follow the following steps:
1) Download the Adobe Flash uninstall program.
Adobe has an official Flash uninstall program. Please download the appropriate one for your operating system.
If you are a Microsoft Windows user, then you might want to reboot your computer to make sure the uninstall changes take effect.
2) Verify Flash has been removed.
For each of your browsers that you use, (IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc), verify that Flash has been successfully removed by visiting Animoto.com. The introduction video should not play if Flash has been removed successfully. You can also visit:
If you encounter any problems on Microsoft Windows/Internet Explorer, then please skip to (4).
3) Re-install Flash
You can now proceed to re-install the latest Flash player from:
Please note that for Windows and Internet Explorer, the install instructions are slightly different than Firefox, Chrome, Safari because IE uses Active X controls. Once this is complete, visit Animoto.com and see if the introduction video plays properly.
4) Known Microsoft Windows Problems
We've encountered issues where Flash does not properly uninstall for Internet Explorer. In this situation, you will need to check your Windows Registry to insure that it properly reflects that Flash is uninstalled. There are many utilities that can help. Here are a few example programs:
NOTE: Animoto does not endorse any of these Windows Registry downloads. Please proceed carefully when downloading programs from the Internet or attempting to fix the registry on your own. If possible, backup all of your important files and documents. Once you've cleaned your registry, try to verify Flash has been removed in (2).
We've also encountered issues where the Microsoft.NET framework prevents Flash from un-installing properly. If you have the .NET framework installed on your Windows computer, then you should attempt to un-install and install the latest. You can verify and un-install .NET by using the "add/remove programs" feature in Windows. The latest version can be downloaded here:
Once you've re-installed .NET, please try step (2) again.
