Uploading images and video clips (Animoto Memories - legacy tool)

Hi there! This article is about Animoto Memories, an Animoto legacy slideshow-making tool. As of October 2018, all Animoto customers have access to our new easy-to-use, drag-and-drop video maker.

Click here to learn more about what you can do with Animoto today.

Uploading images or video clips when you're creating a new Animoto Memories slideshow video or editing an existing one, is a snap! Click the "Add pics & vids" button on the left side of the screen.

Next, navigate to where your digital images or clips are stored on your computer. To select multiple files, hold down the "ctrl" or "shift" keys while clicking on the files.

If you're on a Mac and using iPhoto, you can access your iPhoto albums by clicking the "Photos" button under the "Media" section in the file select box.

If your pictures are already uploaded to an online photo management site, we recommend using the "retrieve your images" option, since the images will already be downsized, saving you significant time. We currently support direct image retrieval from Flickr, Facebook, Smugmug, Instagram, and Dropbox.

As of 2020 Animoto no longer supports image retrieval from Lightroom in Animoto Memories or Animoto 3.

DOWNSIZING IMAGES (for faster uploading)

Images straight off your digital camera or phone can be much larger in size than what you need for your Animoto video or slideshow.  You can use simple image-resizing programs to downsize your images. If you have a Mac, we recommend using DroPic! If you have a PC, we recommend using VSO Image Resizer (free). These are easy-to-use tools to help you resize your images to something appropriate for the web.

If you plan to make videos for DVD or to download onto your computer, it's best to upload images that are at least 1280x720 pixels but no more than 1 or 2 megapixels.
