Burning a video to DVD on a PC

Got a Mac? Check out our Mac DVD instructions. Before you follow these instructions, make sure you've already downloaded your Animoto video.

  1. Insert a blank DVD-R or DVD-RW into your PC. (Keep in mind that DVD-RWs can't play on a normal DVD player. DVD-Rs should play just fine.)
  2. If you don't already have an application to burn CDs or DVDs, consider downloading and installing one like CDBurnerXP (it's free!). CDBurnerXP is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and 7.
  3. Open CDBurnerXP. You'll see 5 project options. Select "Burn ISO image" and click "OK".

  4. In the ISO project window, click the small icon marked "Browse..." and browse your hard drive to find and select the ISO file you've downloaded from Animoto.

  5. Make sure the correct file path appears to the left of the "Browse..." button. All other settings are handled by the program. Then select "Burn disc" and wait for the burning process to complete.

  6. You're done! Take the disc out, label it, and package it however you want. Animoto DVDs make great gifts and party favors.

If you don't already have a DVD-burner incorporated in your computer, or if you're having trouble burning Animoto videos to DVD on a Windows platform, you may want to try these free burners that are Animoto-compatible: Active Burner or ISO Recorder for Vista Machines.

Living outside the US? Check out DVDFlick to burn your MP4 file to a PAL-compatible DVD.
