Locating Lost, Missing, or Deleted Videos

There are many ways that a video can be lost. Not to worry! With the right information, the Animoto team can help you locate and restore your old video, even if it was deleted. Below are some common scenarios that cause videos to go missing, and how to get them back.

Your account was archived

Accounts that haven’t been accessed in a year or more are archived due to inactivity. If your account has been archived, the next time you visit Animoto your account will be empty. You will see a notification that the account has been archived and a prompt to reset your password.

Once you have reset your password you'll gain access to your account again. It will take between 24-48 hours for us to retrieve your videos from our system, but you’ll be able to start making new videos right away.

The video was deleted

If you are trying to view a video from a shared link and you get an error message that the video was deleted, the account the video belongs to was likely archived. Links to videos that were created in the archived account will show as deleted until the account has been restored.

If you deleted a video in an account that is active, you can reach out to the Customer Team at Help@Animoto.com and we’ll be happy to help.

You are logged into a different account than the one you used to create the video

Folks often lose their videos on accounts that use old school email addresses or email addresses from past jobs. If you’re not seeing your videos when you log in, the first step is to check which email you are logged in from. You can check this by accessing your Account page, under the My Profile tab.

What to do if you still can’t find your video

If you’ve followed the above steps and you still aren’t able to locate your video, the Animoto team can help! Please reach out to us anytime at Help@Animoto.com, with the following information:

  • Any email addresses that you may have used to create the video
  • The video name and approximate date of creation
  • The URL you've used to watch the video (it will start with either Animoto.com/play or Video214.com/play)
