Finalize, Export, and Share your Video

Before you can watch, share, or download your video, you’ll need to export it. Exporting is the final step that turns your Animoto project into a playable video. This article will walk you through how to finalize your Animoto video so it’s ready to be played and shared. Your download and sharing options will depend on the plan you’re on.

Why do I need to export?

When you finish editing in Animoto, your project is still a collection of raw files. Exporting is what stitches everything together into a finished, playable video. It’s the step you need to take before you can watch, share, or download it.

Export your video from the project workspace

  1. Click Share in the upper right corner of the Workspace
  2. Select Publish and Share — if you’re on a Free or Basic plan, this will say Export
Once it’s done, you’ll land on the Share page where you can watch your finished video.

Export your video from the My Projects page

  1. While on the My Projects page, click the 3 horizontal dots on the top right corner of the video tile that you want to export and select Export Video from the dropdown menu.
  2. Click the three horizontal dots on the top right corner of your video tile
  3. Select Export Video from the dropdown. That will take you to the Workspace where you will have the option to export your video

  4. Click Share in the upper right corner of the Workspace
  5. Select Publish and Share — if you’re on a Free or Basic plan, this will say Export
Once it’s done, you’ll land on the Share page where you can watch your finished video.

After you click Publish and Share, you’ll be taken to the Share page where you can download, share, and view your video!

How do I share my video after it’s exported?

Once you’ve exported your video, you can play and view it on the Share page. Your sharing options will depend on your plan. Here’s more information on navigating our share page.

Share, Play, and Download options are greyed out

If the Share, Play, and Download options on your Projects page aren’t clickable that means your video is still in an edit state and you need to export again. Open your video for editing to access your video’s workspace, and export it the same way you did the first time.
