Customizing Existing Animoto Video Templates

Our templates have been curated to serve as a guide to help you create professional looking videos quickly!

Our templates are there for inspiration, so what works for a lot of our users is to follow them as a guide while they customize them! You can use our stock placeholders and text to help you find the design that you need. Once you find one that you like, you can adjust them to use your colors, text and audio, and swap our images with your own to tell your own story.

The settings you choose will apply to your whole video, and any other blocks you add so you can experiment and see what tweaks you like! If you change your mind, you can always use the Undo button to go back.

You can customize all of the elements of the template to make it your own. That includes:

  • Layouts
  • Text and Style Transitions
  • Music
  • Font
  • Color scheme
  • Ratio
  • Music

Animoto Team Tip: Applying a Saved Brand is an easy way to personalize Animoto templates with just the click of a button!

Step One: Choose your Ratio

You can change the ratio of any template to make it fit wherever you need to share it! Your layouts and design will automatically adjust.

Step Two: Swap Out your Images

You can use the images in our templates, choose from our stock library, or upload your own. If you already have your own images and video clips, you can use our templates as a guide for where to put them.

Have multiple images you want to use? You can select a different layout to change the design of your block!

Animoto Team tip: Different video transitions offer different layouts. If you want to change the feel of your video, we recommend trying different kinds of Video Style transitions under the Video Settings tab in the Design section.

Step Three: Edit your text

You can use our text placeholders as inspiration! For example, in our About Us template you can use our text as a guide for what to include in your own video.

You can change the font and text transitions in the Text tab under the Design menu at the top of the Workspace.

Step Four: Change the Color Scheme

You can change the color of the entire video via the Design tab, or by the block! We recommend changing it via the Design tab so you can see if that matches what you are looking for.

Animoto Team tip: If you want to experiment with different colors and the feel of your video, experiment with our Themes. You can always use the Undo button to go back!

Step Five: Choose Your Audio Tracks

Once your video is put together, you’re ready to add your music! Users on the Professional and Teams plans can add up to 8 audio and voiceover tracks to their project. You can also upload your own regardless of your plan! The song volume will automatically lower when a video clip with audio is playing so you can hear it better!

That’s all there is to it! Once you’re finished, click Share, then a share option to finalize your video.
