Use Blocks to Create your Video

Blocks are the pieces that are strung together to create your Animoto video. Each block is a segment of your video where you will add your photos, videos, and text like a storyboard. There are different kinds of blocks that will give you different options for customizing your video.

Each project needs at least one block in the timeline before you can move images and video clips from the Media Library to the workspace.

Add your blocks

To add a block, click on the + next to the blue play icon in the bottom left hand corner of your screen. That will open the block menu, where you can select the kind of block you want.

Choose a block type

You’ll be able to choose from a variety of block types from the block menu. Our pre-designed flexible layouts are customizable designs that will change depending on the kind of video style that you are using. You can browse the available styles by switching through the styles in the upper right corner of the menu.

A Photo Burst block will allow you to speed through a number of photos with the animation of your choosing! A Logo block showcases your company logo without a watermark at the end of your video.

Drag and drop your media

You’ll add your images and video clips from the Media Library, or choose from our stock library. Once you have your images either drag and drop them right into the block, or drag your media into an existing Media Frame until the placeholder highlights and then release it.

Customize your blocks

You’ll find all the options to customize your block via the menu icons on the left hand side of the block. That’s where you’ll change the background colors, add text, media frames, emojis, and elements!
